Grow Organic Vegetables With an Aquaponics System

Aquaponics is a hybrid gardening formula combining aquaculture and hydroponics which grows your vegetables faster than conventional gardening methods. It is also dead simple to do. Aquaponics is a great way for beginners to get in to organic food growth. A method is simple to set up and can be as giant or as small as you require.

In case you are a total beginner and this is your first crack at aquaponics then I recommend you start small. This is because when you are new to something mistakes are basically made and it is better to lose a few fish than a whole pond full.

To fully understand the magic of Aquaponics let's first briefly portray the ideas of aqua-culture and hydroponics as they appear separately...

Hydroponics & Aqua-culture (fish tanks):

Hydroponics is where plants are grown directly in water which is saturated with nutrients and no soil is used. The issue is that these nutrients must be added artificially to the water, and this is both expensive and time-consuming.

Artificial fertilizers are also hard for plants to absorb, and the final result is nutrient-starved vegetables that taste like water.

The main issue with Aqua-culture is that fish toxify their own water with their own waste.

Somebody who has ever owned fish knows that within a week, any fish tank will become hazy with ammonia, algae, nitrates, minerals and diverse waste. It is not healthy for fish to swim around in their own waste, so fish tanks must be flushed and refilled regularly.

Aquaponics Automatically Resolves Both Problems Simultaneously...

The by-product of fish are minerals, algae, ammonia & nitrates... & guess what... This constitute a stellar diet for your plants!

The truth is that plants THRIVE UPON everything that fish produce as a "by-product" naturally!
So, what happens if they merge these historically in the past separate ideas in to completed, holistic, & symbiotic process?

This is where the actual magic of aqua-ponics comes in...

By connecting the fish-tank water to the hydroponics process your plants receive a superbly balanced & automatic food supply of everything they need directly from the "by-product" of the fish, and in turn, the plants filter the water for the fish!

The Win-Win-Win Situation Of Aquaponics:

The plants get automatic excess to an abundance of rich & alive nutrients (by-product of the fish) around the clock which makes them grow two times as quick as plants in an ordinary soil garden.
The fish are perfectly happy as their water is filtered continously & naturally all day by your prospering plants.

YOU are happy because you get super-healthy organic plants that yield up to TEN times the harvest of a similar sized soil garden - in half the time - & takes close to zero hard work to maintain.
The aquaponic process can be set up on a small area around the house & at the yard, & even on places that are deemed small for normal home gardens... How?

With aquaponics you place plants closer together on a float process above the water, therefore it fits up to TEN TIMES more plants in the same space as an ordinary soil garden!

Conclusion:

A home vegetable garden has lots of great and points such as saving you a ton of money, giving you a worthwhile hobby, a great way of spending time with family & naturally brilliant tasting vegatation. I got my first home vegetable garden up & going about ten years ago & have not looked back since & with food prices always rising I am glad that I did.

When you first start, it is best to start with a small plot & a simple to grow vegetable such as tomatoes to get you in to the swing of it. Growing your own organic veggies is simple, there is no secret, a small bit of hard work now & again is well worth it in the end.

Now my home vegetable garden is on steroids (not literally) thanks to a recent breakthrough called

Aquaponics. This is a natural method where in lieu of having filters in the fish tank the water is pumped through some netted plant pots to be cleaned & then returned to the fish tank. This "dirty" fish water contains every single nutriant needed for your vegetables to grow, so there is no need for any chemicals or plant food.
The beauty of aquaponics is that your vegetables grow faster & you need less space for your crops because you can have the pots stacked up on shelves, which makes harvesting less of a chore as there is less bending down.
